Having problems with your Canon PowerShot A85 Digital Camera ?
Camera shutdown I've had my Canon Powershot A85 for around 2 years.
Around a few dats ago, I was showing friends pictures from a holiday to America, when it appeared the batteries had run out, but the lens never retracted, which it usually would do.
I attempted to turn the camera on again, and it turned on for a split second, but i never thought to look at the screen for an error mesage, but it just turned off again.
Nothing was spilled on the camera, and it wasn't dropped, or any other
Sounds like the fuse went bad in the camera, If you have no power on camera most likely thats what happened, This has to be fixed by repair tec, they have to touble shoot power board.

Only about 9 months after buying my camera, It wouldn't turn on. I'll plug it in and the light will come on that it's charging, but when I got to turn it on, it turns on for a split second (and the zoom lense comes out) and then it turns itself right back off (and the zoom lense goes in). I thought that it needed a new battery so I bought one and it's still doing the same thing. I emailed Kodak and they said that I should just send it into them for a $60 repair fee...lame. Any suggestions?

The following is not a battery problem and the camera has not been dropped. It worked normally, I turned it off, and the next day when I turned it on, here's what happened -- and has happened consistently since then: I turn the camera on. The lens extends fully. I hear 4 distinct buzzing sounds from within the camera. The LCD flashes with an image for a split second. The lens retracts fully. I hear 3 beeps from within the camera. The camera shuts itself off. All this happens in not more

Power/lens Problems I'm having some power/lens problems with my camera. When I turn on the power in either the picture or video mode, the green light will turn on for a split second then turn off. The lens does not come out at all. However, when I try to turn it on with the picture viewer or in the menu it works just fine. When I start with the picture viewer and then switch to the camera it turns off. Thus it seems that whenever I want to take a picture or a movie the camera doesn't work.

The camera that I have is an red HP A730 with 7 megapixels. I've had it for about 3 years and it's always worked just fine. But, recently I lost my memory card. My camera still worked with out it. I thought it was the batteries, so I changed them, but the light indicating that it's on flashed for a second and then turned off. My camera (DSC-T70) got wet (shame on me). When I first turned it on, it worked fine but then it threw an error that said my battery wasn't capatible. I thought maybe I fried the battery so I bought a cheap generic one and it still threw the same error. I then thought maybe I needed to use an original Sony battery. I tried one of them and it still isn't working. It will come on for a second and the screen will show but then it throws the error and turns off. Is my camera toast??..:-(
