Having problems with your Toshiba PDR-M700 Digital Camera ?
Poor exposure when using the flash
\015 Just bought the PDR-M700 and now it's back in the box ready to be returned. It's a very attractive camera with many great features and decent image quality. \015\012\015\012The biggest downfall is poor exposure when using the flash. No matter what I set it for in manual or auto, dim indoor exposure was useless. Use of the flash ignored all manual exposure settings and captured very under exposed pics. The flash even seems weak compared to my Canon A40's. The auto setting was no different. \015\012\015\012Another problem is the lack of AF assist. I could not get this camera to focus in a 10' x 10' room with a 60 watt bulb. Very dissapointing. The Toshiba website put up a firmware upgrade that would give the PDR-M700 a manual focus feature, but it was difficult to use, especially in poor lighting.\015
I read in another Toshiba forum where some users were putting a small piece of electriacal (black) tape over the flash sensor, and their indoor photos with flash turned out spectacular, since it allows the camera to apply more light . Actually fools the camera but it works. You might want to experiment with it..

I have a rebel xt 350D , using 75-300mm 5.6f lens to do some girls basketball photography inside a gym. Had camera set on: ISO 1600, M mode, 5.6f, 200 shutter speed (that seem to set automatically), used built in flash, Exposure level was in the middle of the chart, auto focus, al servo, continuous shooting, used awb. Got pretty good freeze action shots, with little or no blurring but the photos were dark. Some I could make lighter with photoshop but lost some detail and the contrast was too muc
Unless you were up close and personal, the built-in flash was your problem. Anything past about 15 feet and your picture will be dark. You would have been better off turning the flash off and using available light. Once the flash is off, you can set ... Digital Cameras
Flash Pictures I have a Canon XTi and am using a 580EX flash with it. The problem is, I have to set the flash at plus 1 1/2 to 2 stops to get a decent exposure. Is there something that I am doing wrong?
All canons tend to underexpose to avoid blowing the highlights. I still think this is a poor design / calibration of the light meter. A search of the net will reveal some folks who sent their xti's in to canon to be fixed and got them back better. Ca ... Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera
This is a mind bender, While doing a shoot using monolights connected to a Nikon D1x I encountered exposure problems. After the lights were metered for the best exposure, I started shooting. The first ten or so shots were fine, and all of a sudden the next ten shots looked like they were 8 stops over, and then it went to looking ok. The first thing I did was switch monolights thinking there was a problem with the flash, this did not resolve the issue. Next I switched camera bodies, still the int

Exposure Control I have an Optio S6 that I accidentally dropped into a building's girder while doing Kite Aerial Photography. From that point on I've gotten very poor exposures. Out at a beach the photos were totally black. There are only some small nicks right above the flash, but my guess it was a pretty good hit. I took it to a Pentax Repair Center but the cost of repair equalled the cost of a new camera. I hate to just throw it out, any suggestions?

Hi. I have had a Samsung S1050 camera for just under 3 years, and have had satisfaction in using the camera and with the picture quality for most of that time, however just within the last few weeks, the quality of photographs taken has gone rapidly downhill, with white-out when using the flash and poor light levels, and when zooming in on any picture that has recently been taken, there are noticeable horizontal lines across it through the entire photo, much like an old 70's tv. My Pentax OptioW90 stopped reacting to the operating button (ie focus and exposure) so would not shoot. I could change all the options including going back to factory settings which I did a couple of times Next day it had the same problem as other people of taking a couple of flash photos on start up then freezing with no response for any options. So now it is as good as dead. Used for 6 months with lovely photos and no known water leakage

Hi, I have a Canon 20D and a Sppedlite 550EX (I use for almost every shot). My problem is that 80-90% of my photos always return back from the printers too dark. I know this sounds like a printing issue, however I have tried 4 different printers and still have the same problem. I have tried up'ing my exposure both on my camera and flash, but this just overexposes parts of the photo too much. My histogram also looks relatively correct on these shots. I appreciate that photos will be taken too dar

Camera flash i generally use my camera on auto mode so i don't have to play around with buttons! however after loaning my camera to my sister for a week my flash is no longer as great as it was!! I used to take pics and the flash would light 2-3 times giving a great, bright picture. It now flashes once before the pic is snapped giving a dark picture. I have a Canon EOS 40D camera. We are having problems with using an external flash. The pictures always come out extremely dark with the external flash. Hi, My D80 has suddenly developed a fault, where it registers the flash as open and in use even when its shut. This has the effect of syncing the shutter speed and limiting it to 1 200th in all modes. In addition, whilst the flash button will still change the flash mode using the command dials, it won't open the flash- almost like the camera thinks the flash is already open. I have tried prising open the flash, and it still doesn't fire even when open. There was no indication of a problem previ

Canon sd900 I seldom use my canon sd900 and I usually take pictures without using the flash. But I recently noticed that my hands should be very very steady, just a slight movement will cause the picture to be blurry or unclear. I usually don?t use the flash because it gives a darker background with your face too white from the flash. And my problem arises when I would request other people to take my picture because 90% don?t have a steady hand thus giving me a blurry picture.
Try a higher ISO speed (suggest 400). Look in your camera's instruction book to find out how to do this. ... Digital Cameras
Overexposure I have owned my Fujifilm S5000 for about 2 1/2 years. It has worked perfectly until the last couple of months. I have always used the flash when the camera told me to. Recently, the camera has been overexposing inside pictures when I use the flash. If I don't use the flash, it underexposes the picture. Any suggestions...ideas? I have moved fairly recently and can't find my manual anywhere. Thanks, Laurie

I have a Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT and the built-in flash no longer pops up when needed. This started happening after using a Canon speedlite, but then removing it. I've tried resetting everything, and tried all modes expecting that the ones listed in the manual as using a flash would work, but they dont, it never pops up. I lifted up the flash with my fingernail manually, and then tried taking a picture where a flash was most definitely needed, but it still had a long delay, no flash, and

The flash is either far too bright or not bright enough even when using the auto setting. The flash either doesn't flash at all on "soft flash" and then blinds people when the flash is turned on so it produces very dark faces or bright white images. I've tried using different scene modes but this does not seem to work.
